Senior Director Engineering

Our client is an established marketing technology startup, venture-backed and generating strong revenues.

We are looking for a Senior Director Engineering based in Los Angeles, United States and legally able to work in the US without sponsorship.

This is an opportunity to make a major impact on the continued success of the company, leading a “small but mighty” global team to innovate and scale the marketing platform.

This is a HYBRID role headquartered in Beverly Hills, reporting to the GM based in Tel Aviv, with leadership/staff primarily in the USA, Latin America, and Europe.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute the technical vision and strategy for our marketing platform, aligning engineering efforts with overall business goals.

  • Drive innovation in the development of cutting-edge features and functionalities to enhance user engagement and marketing effectiveness.

  • Be a thought leader and subject matter expert for new technology related to API development, AI, data management, cloud, etc. AI is fundamental at this stage of the game - what are you doing with it now? what would you like to do?

  • Manage and mentor a nearshore & offshore engineering team of up to 12 including two leads and senior staff.

  • Oversee the design and architecture of the marketing platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and optimal performance.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and industry best practices.

  • Drive the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from concept to delivery, ensuring timely and high-quality releases.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand market needs, gather feedback, and align engineering efforts accordingly.

  • Ensure seamless integration of engineering solutions into the broader business strategy with effective communication and KPIs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical experience

  • Recent and relevant industry experience: marketing platforms, advertising technology, or similar cloud-based platforms

  • Startup personality: roll up your sleeves, fully dedicated, solutions oriented, low ego, collaborative and inclusive

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a technical leadership capacity, including nearshore/offshore teams

  • Thorough understanding of software development methodologies and processes, particularly API development

  • Successful in a metrics-driven environment, defining KPIs and measuring against them

  • Demonstrated track record of innovation, staying current with developing technology such as AI

  • Ability to “roll up sleeves” occasionally along with the dev team

  • Familiarity with Agile and project workflow best practices

  • Experienced with a wide range of tools in open source, cloud environments: JS, Git, Python, AWS, GCP, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills across all departments
