Purposeful Networking

Less is MORE!
My thoughts around purposeful networking -
for business development, your career hunt, etc.

Anyone else experiencing this here lately?
My inbox is so full of sales outreach,
I can barely find the real messages anymore.

And I'm sorry for calling outreach "not real"
because there IS a real human behind it... mostly?
As AI and automation becomes even more powerful,
the volume of all this stuff is beyond the scale of a real person.

I don't read these messages,
unless they start out with something properly personalized
so I feel acknowledged, and willing to listen.
Or it's from someone I already know.

A fractional CMO friend of mine recently told me a sad statistic:
something like two responses from 1,000 outreach messages.
Is it worth it, for the money spent, and the stress to our inboxes?

I don't think it's "old school" to want to be human,
building real relationships authentically,
honing in on actual business pipelines, pre-qualified,
and then providing actual value to close a sale.

All of the people I know who've gotten job offers lately -
they did it this way too.
No more clicking buttons mindlessly.
Being real people in real conversations, demonstrating real value.

It feels a lot slower to do personal outreach,
but it yields a greater sense of connection, and better results.

On that note:
I spent the first quarter of this year joining ProVisors and Echelon Business Development Network, tapping into some really wonderful communities like WeAreLATech, Mission Matters Media, Founder's Table, Light Dao, Fuzia Talent, Gildre, StartupGrind-Manhattan Beach, Product Managers Association of Los Angeles, and MORE.

I called it "Annemarie Everywhere All At Once" hehehe
It was exhausting but so productive!
I've met so many incredible people that have quickly become friends,
along with all the old and dear relationships of decades before.
Thank you for being inspiring!
Excited for all the ways we can work together and have fun doing it.

We've only just begun in terms of Dreamore scaling up again
(well....again because it was Apex previously).
We are a purpose-driven recruiting and advisory firm

doing good for each other, and our world.

Epilogue:
Last Sunday's Dreamore Hike & Picnic was small but purposeful and productive.
Sometimes if a group gets too big, it changes the energy.
Very happy for the deep dives with Dr. Barry Carlin Dr. Frumi Rachel Barr Kellianne Fedio Catherine Boran and such pretty flowers from Rosanna S. and others were there later as well, but I don't want to overwhelm ya with tagging 😉
