Purpose Driven People

Are you a purpose-driven person?
And what does that mean, anyway?
Here's what I've learned...

As a founder, I've been rebuilding my recruiting firm
in a relatively challenging time for hiring.
AND developing ten acres of land during climate change,
AND being an investor in turbulent times.

During this journey of personal and business exploration,
I realized especially in that first p-nd-mic year,
I had lost my purpose,
and along with it: motivation, health, and self-esteem.

That was a breakthrough moment,
deciding that I just needed to make a choice,
declare a purpose (it didn't matter WHAT, so long as it was SOMETHING)
embrace the power of the purpose I'd chosen,
call everything Dreamore,
set clear goals,
decide I was gonna be OK,
and start moving forward again.

It's not an overnight thing by any stretch.
Three years later...
Not everything is built yet,
but it's definitely on track.
Having a sense of purpose has been the ONE thing
that's kept me going.

So how does one become more purposeful,
for yourself, your loved ones, and the world?
1. Silver linings - even the worst stuff can yield some good.
2. Fear doesn't have to define you - it's a choice.
3. Align yourself with other purposeful people - community FTW.
4. Self-awareness - words are powerful, so choose yours wisely.
5. Give and receive - what do you need? what can you offer?
6. Listening - ask questions and really listen; don't just wait so you can talk.
7. Set clear, manageable goals - one little step in the right direction, every day, starts the momentum and builds from there.
8. Adapt - it is very common that you'll need to adjust along the way. Possibly on a daily basis! That's why it's called Growth Mindset rather than Fixed Mindset.
