Go Outside :)

Another cheerful post where I show you pictures of nature on your screen and encourage you to GO OUTSIDE AND LOOK AT ACTUAL NATURE.

Thanks again to Chris Jaramillo for inspiring and organizing the tech industry hike & picnic at Dreamore (the land, not just the recruiting firm).

The group included five generations of founders, engineers, creatives, and friends, all with very different backgrounds.

Diversity FTW! We can learn so much from each other.

Keyona Jackson asked the group: what is your main goal for the next five years?

A simple question but profound.

A lot of people are feeling stuck right now.

It can be hard to imagine next year, much less five years from now!

I felt really stuck a few years ago. I was too isolated, plus PTSD.

I discovered Find Your Why and it made a huge difference.

I wake up every day feeling pretty good now, even when the world still feels chaotic and most of it - I cannot control.

If you are unfamiliar, here's How To Find Your Why:

1. Identify the activities, topics, and people you care about. You don't have to DO these things right now. Just name them and claim them.

2. Reflect on who/what matters to you most. Set some priorities.

3. Recognize your strengths and talents: self-love, not self-loathing.

4. Try volunteering! When you give to others and expect nothing in return, it helps you realize how much you already have. Volunteering builds a sense of community. Being in isolation makes it easy to lose purpose - even introverts need people.

5. Imagine your best possible self: DREAM MORE!

6. Cultivate positive emotions like gratitude and awe. This is where it really helps to be out in nature! Our physical world is incredible.

7. Connect with people you admire, as clear examples of what you might aspire to, and find mentor or peer relationships that help you on your path.

It's an exciting journey, bringing people together in this way to simply feel connected and keep our Why in focus, rebuilding the recruiting firm, and working to get the house built.

If you need more nature, community, hiring, or job support - LMK!
