Business is People
No matter what your product or service is...
Business is made of PEOPLE.
This is why relationships matter, regardless of your career.
So on that note, I am randomly highlighting
My dear friend and talented marketer Tony Winders.
We met in the NINETIES!
Dot-com boom in all its glory.
Tony had spikey hair and looked like a rock star to me.
I drove a red convertible, so maybe he thought I was a rock star too.
I had lost touch with a lot of folks from that era
And reconnected more recently.
I am excited to see what we can all build together in the next wave.
It's important to go deeper in our professional relationships,
beyond just the transaction or general knowledge of each other.
Beyond just "hey can I sell you something?"
Which usually doesn't work, or if it does - not very well.
AI is a great tool, but if you don't inject your humanity into it <sad face>
FYI I am way behind in nurturing a lot of newer relationships,
And it's become my priority this quarter.
Thanks for your patience!
Feel free to reach out directly especially all my new founder friends, women, BIPOC, and related 🌈 .
Nobody believes me, but I was super shy.
I got into recruiting in my twenties and got past the fear.
Over the years, getting positive feedback loops, it became easier.
Just like any other skill - practice, practice, practice.
Hopefully that perspective is helpful for others,
Who might be introverted, or busy, or other reasons...
Put some time in your calendar for building and nurturing relationships.
It will pay off in more ways than you can imagine!
Authentic relationships give you purpose.
They can make you feel more secure (because you ARE).
They can definitely bring you more income, if that's your goal.
And if you choose the right kinds of people, it makes life more fun!
Dreamore has a lot of moving parts that work together,
Since it's a purpose-driven recruiting & advisory firm
AND the real estate I'm developing by the ocean,
AND a way of thinking that encourages us to imagine our possibilities.
Community, relationships, people...that's what brings it all together.
On that note:
You are invited if you are a founder, investor, or business leader
This Sunday 4/21 for nature time and salon-style conversations.
